What is an HRA, exactly?
A Health Reimbursement Arrangement is a formal, employer-funded benefit. You set aside a tax-free allowance; employees incur eligible medical expenses and you reimburse them up to that allowance. It’s defined in IRS rules — not insurance itself.
Do I need a group health plan to offer one?
Not for QSEHRA or ICHRA — that’s the point. Employees use their allowance toward individual coverage and qualified expenses they choose themselves. GCHRA is the exception: it pairs with an existing group plan.
How do reimbursements stay tax-free?
When the HRA follows IRS requirements — eligible expenses, proper substantiation (receipts), and for some types, minimum coverage — reimbursements are free of income and payroll tax for both you and your employees.
What does this app actually do?
It runs the day-to-day workflow: set up plans and allowances, manage employees and enrollments, collect claims with receipt uploads, route approvals, record reimbursements, and keep an audit log of everything.
